So today we did a few things but one of them was going to the magical cavern at the top of a big hill. It’s essentially a big house but it has a basement, and the entire house is full of really interesting art and decor.

First impressions are it looks like something from Skyrim, it really does look like it’s from a fantasy film or game, and the path elading up to it took a while to talk as well. It’s near a great view of the city though and well worth the walk up.

As you go in, you’re greeted by someone dressed in artistic clothing and if you’re a student you get a discount by the way. I believe it was about $3 or so to get in per person but the price will no doubt change by the time you read this and check it out. Here’s a vlog from that day although we did other things as well. The art cavern appears about 2/3rds of the way into the video I beleive.

What is the Reon Argondian magical cavern?

Well, I’m not sure why it’s there, but I think I heard someone saying it’s where artists used to come and paint and hang out. For some reason they kept the art in the building and now it’s a sort of mini art museum/shop. It’s probably going to take you about 20 minutes to see the whole thing, but maybe I’m just fast, who knows.

There’s also a toilet there which is useful if you’ve been walking up the hill and weren’t planning on coming here, because for a couple of dollars you can use the toilet, have some juice and look at some amazing art while you give your legs a break from the climb. There is also free drinks available inside but don’t expect too much, it was just some squash and I think some sort of rum or whiskey at the back of the table.

Oh there is also a lovely little cafe just near the top of the hill which now has a tram you can take from the top to the bottom. I’d reccomend doing the climb UP and the tram down when you’re tired, but you could just take it both ways as well and avoid the climb.

Tips for visiting the magical cavern

I’n read other posts saying you should expect to stay here for more than 2-3 hours but maybe I’m just not super interested in art. I do love it but I wouldn’t sit down and look at it for hours on end. I got round the house in about 20-30 minutes and I studied each painting and videoed it, and took pictures. I’d probably say expect to spend about half an hour or more here.

Like I said next to the cavern is a lovely cafe and a tarm going up and down but the tickets are a little pricy. You can also just walk down and enjoy the lovely gardens.

If you’re planning to go here, wait for a nice day because we went when it had just been raining and the ground was really slippery. Also there’s not much cover on the way up/down so you’ll get soaked if you go when it’s raining.
