Opportunities can come from anywhere. This is a very important thing to realize, that the chance to do something you really want to do can come when you least expect it.
Will Smith was quoted saying – ‘If you stay ready, you don’t need to get ready’.
It’s basically saying that if you make yourself ready for anything that life throws at you, and be ready to embrace and experience it fully, you’ll eventually seize your perfect opportunity to do something you want in life. Many people wait for years to ‘catch their lucky break’ and often when they do finally get presented with an opportunity to do something incredible, they either;
- Don’t realize the opportunity is there.
- Don’t know how to react or,
- They aren’t ready.
And that’s why sometimes it’s good to just stay ready and be on the lookout for chances and ways to do something with your life. Let’s say you have a dream to become a famous guitarist, and you really want to do it.
Stay Ready For Any Opportunity
So to make that dream a reality, you would of course practice all the time, and hopefully play local gigs, and socialize with other musicians, constantly send your work to record companies and promote yourself.
That’s the basics, but to go above and beyond, you could be ready for anything, meaning for example, when you’re socializing with musicians, be ready for a record producer to walk up and say, ‘hey, my friend told me about you’ and be able to have a conversation with them calmly and promote yourself.
You could have just landed yourself a recording contract.
Just by staying ready and seizing the chance.
Opportunities are everywhere, and in the 20th century, there are so many options out there for people that it’s almost like you’re spoiled for choice. So what do you want to do with your life? Where do you want to go?
When the opportunity comes along, you’re ready
So make sure that every day, you’re sharp, aware of yourself, and focused on what you want in life, and how you’re going to get there. The thing to worry about is missing opportunities.
It’s always the things we don’t do in life that we regret, so when the chance is there, and you see a gap or a moment where you could seize the day, just do it and think about it later. It either will be a good decision, or not, but you’ll never know if you just don’t’ do it.
It’s easy to just wait for the right time to go after your goals, but when is the right time? Now. Right now, just start moving towards what you want in life – Or do you want to wake up one morning and realize you’ve wasted years of your life.
I know how it feels to make excuses and find a reason to wait, maybe you don’t feel ready, or you don’t think you can do it right now, but the truth is it’s much better to just go for it, and then aim once you’ve fired, if that makes sense.
If you wait, you’ll probably miss the chance that you had, and then you’ll just feel bad that you didn’t leap when you had the chance. If I asked you right now what you wanted to do in your life, or even better, in ten years time, what do you want to be able to think back and remember?
What do you want to do?
I mean, what do you really want to do..
If you don’t know, then that’s fine! There’s always time to find out what you want to do, just try different things until you strike gold and find something which excites you, but most people deep down know what they want. To make it easier, what would you do with your time if you were a millionaire?
I mean after the usual answer of sit on an island somewhere, because that will get boring after a while, once the excitement of the money has worn off, what would you spend your time doing? The answer you get from that question is very important, because it shows you what you actually want to do.
If money was no object, what would you really enjoy doing? Write it down and every day focus on it, and you’ll see just how much you can achieve.
